Director and Instructor of the Latin Corner Dance Studio, Native of the Dominican Republic and son of a Cuban professional Dancer and a Dominican Singer.

Nino has been dancing since the age of three. He introduced Salsa L.A. and N.Y. style to Calgary in 1996. Nino studied Afro-Caribbean Folklore in the Dominican Republic.His love and passion for Salsa took him all the way to New York in 1989, where he began dancing with New York's Salsa King.A year later Nino won his first Salsa Championship.Later Nino went to live in Cuba where he learned Salsa Cuban style.In 1992 Nino won his second Salsa Championship and decided to move to Canada to study International Business at McGill University while studying at McGill he founded The McGill's Salsa club in 1992.After finishing his career, Nino moved to Calgary and founded the Latin Corner Dance Studio and introduced to Calgary for the first time Salsa L.A. and N.Y. style.He started the first Salsa group in Calgary, this group was formed to perform mainly for charitable purposes.

His charity work in Calgary includes: The Hispanic student association PiƱata Party in 2000 raised money for the club; the 1999 United Way show and workshop; Children's Hospital Kid Cancer in 1999 which raised money for the Hospital; The Amnesty International Show 1999 to dance for human rights and raised money for those with political problems; and Dance as fast as they Can in 1998 which raised money for the women's shelter.

Nino Acosta represented Canada in Los Angeles California on May 26, 2000 at the Salsa World Congress.He speaks English, Spanish, French and Italian.Owner of Latin Corner Dance Studio, offering Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced training.Nino has trained all professionals SALSA dancers and teachers in Calgary.He has also produced the FIRST instructional Video in Canada and the World, that features more than one dance styles such as; Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia and Bachata.Nino has wrote and directed the first Latino play in Calgary which will start in 2004, in one of the major Theaters in the city.He also wrote a form of exercise called MERENGUE-AEROBICS which focuses on a form of fast weight loss, and toning while integrating merengue moves and music.THE LATIN CORNER DANCE STUDIO IS LOCATED at EAU CLAIRE MARKET 200 BARCLAY PARADE S.W.
