Jairo Aguilar started dancing @ Roccapulco Club (SF) when he did not even know what dance timing was. At that time, he joined a salsa contest with his wife Linda, and they took 2nd place.

The judges (who were professionals) told him they really liked his energy and how they were feeling the music, as a result, they were given high scores. When he was told that his timing was missing...he asked, "What the hell is "timing?" The rest is history.

John (Salsamania) gave him his bez card and taught him the "timing." They later decided to form a dance Troupe called, Salsamania. He was one of the very first member along with DJ El dela Clave, and others. He danced with SalsaMania until November 2005.

"How did I start DJing? Well, I always love the Latin music. In fact, I had always made (CD mix) and provided music for our dance routines. One day, there was a SalsaGang fundraiser for the AIDS Benefit, Eugene and Rodney Rodchata Aquino asked me if I wanted to play some music for a while, I said, "sure." That was the first time I ever played and people loved it. The rest is history. I am a hardcore dancer and a DJ. Because of this I know what dancers want to hear, whether they're just beginners or advance. I have been there, I can relate. I pretty much DJ at most salsa socials and salsa clubs like Glas Kat(SF), ShBoom (San Ramon), Down Low (Berkeley), Cafe Cocomo, Metronome Dance Center, Reno Bachata Convention, San Francisco Salsa Congrsess and other places. I have 2 kids David (8yrs old) and Daniel (4yrs old). They are my life."
